  1. I think so David, I talked with Clark, Denny, and a few others after he passed.

Bunk has a post on Nugget Shooter where he announced a get together at the “Village” (Tom Wells Rd.) west of Quartzsite in mid November I think.  I just looked there and did not find it but it is there somewhere.  I am sure many will be there to show their respects.

  2. I only got to visit with him at a couple of outings, he had his big rig parked on John B's property.

My recollection is that he was very cordial and helpful and was a key player in WSPA.

I have only ever heard very good comments about him, my best wishes for his family.

  3. Hi Mike,

    Welcome back!

When did you rejoin?  I am not certain about the BIO requirement now, I remember submitting one online when I joined a several years ago.  Clark, (clark223g@gmail.com) Is the man in charge of membership.  You can reach out to him about membership questions.

Regarding WSPA claim information, in the "claims" section on the members side of the forum you will see many entries which had claim information such as driving directions, locations, and other useful information is no longer available.  It appears that a person or persons who had authority to remove or modify data did remove a great deal of information.  I hope we can get the information reposted.

  5. Wow,

Thanks much for posting those finds, I think your comments are great!

Just back in Bakersfield from your new 40 in GB.  Clark and I roamed around and he did not get skunkddd.

He will probably put up a good report when he gets back.

Thanks again John for finding that great looking area!  You da man.

    Jeff

  6. Leo,

I agree with you, seems like our profile information should be private.  I will message Alan A and ask him to look at this.

As far as claims go, look at the claims section on the members forum.  That should answer your questions.

    Thanks for bringing this up.

    Jeff

  7. Hi Bill,

Glad you are ok, I was up at Cerro Gordo a year or so back and the new owners had big plans.  The older fellow who has been looking after the site for years is a hard rock miner and his knowledge of the mines in the area and history are great.  The Hotel and other buildings were in pretty fine condition and I am saddened to hear they were lost.

  8. Desertpilot,

I just noticed this recent post and want to thank you for being so patient.  The club is smack dab in the middle of reorganization and if all goes well we should be taking in new members within the next thirty days.  We have retained an attorney to guide us through this overhaul.  There is a meeting of the Board of Directors scheduled for next week and I am optimistic that we will be able to pass needed reforms and will soon be acquiring new claims, and opening up for new members soon thereafter.  Again, thank you for your patience.

    Jeff G.

  9. Good on ya Bill!

Thanks for a good post, and you too Chet.

Do you reckon there are areas of interest more westerly?  Is that in the Inyos, and what are your thoughts on the Inyos?

I have been up Mazurka (sp?) a ways twice and I know there is claimed placer ground there.  A report I read talks of deep overburden on the Western slopes of the Inyos in that area.  Possibly something to look into for the club.

    Keep it going.

    Jeff G.
