  1. I found this nice group of nuggets with the exception of the one in the center a week ago, I went back one more time to see what I missed. That is when I found the small one in the center. They were all found in almost a straight line below an old prospect hole with my GPZ 7000. Always detect the rims of those prospect holes and the adjacent areas. Good luck out there Norm

  2. Hi All I got a nice surprise in the mail today. I made my very first profit from my Gold Basin land deals today. Heck it's only taken a couple decades. A very nice gentleman out of Las Vegas sent me some shiny. I wish to thank Clark for the very generous gift and thoughts . You really didn't need to do that. Soooo now your beeper and nose are officially anointed with gold nugget finds from now on 🙄. My pointy finger still has some ammo left. Well Thanks again Clark !!! Happy Huntin John B. #2 I think

  3. Hi All This is the acreage that the club will hopefully be purchasing. Many years ago I called the owner of this property and asked permission to hunt for meteorites on this parcel in conjunction with a study with the U of A . I no longer can find those maps and records since a move 10 years ago. But as I remember we were granted permission. I found quite a few nuggets on and adjoing this property with my old goldmasters. My first weekend there I got 69 nuggets totaling around 2 ounces and a few space rocks. While calling around landowners for permission I ran across the 160 acres that the owner wanted to sell. I bought it and you members have access to use it. The 160 acres is the north east 1/4 of section 21 T29N R18W . The new property is 40 Acres and it's location is the NW 1/4 of the NE 1/4 Section 29 T29N R18W. I would like to put up some signs on these properties. Something like Trespassers will gut shot, women and children winged. Or will you get the idea. If anyone is out there in Gold Basin and see's people on these parcels , Please advise them they are trespassers and if the owner catches them he is one mean SOB and if he don't shoot you he will have you arrested or confiscate your stuff. 5. CORONA Common Sense Since they are calling on Respiratory therapist to help fight the Corona virus, and I am a retired one, too old to work in a hospital setting. I'm gonna share some common sense wisdom with those that have the virus and trying to stay home. If my advice is followed as given you will improve your chances of not ending up in the hospital on a ventilator. This applies to the otherwise generally healthy population, so use discretion. 1. Only high temperatures kill a virus, so let your fever run high. Tylenol, Advil. Motrin, Ibuprofen etc. will bring your fever down allowing the virus to live longer. They are saying that ibuprophen, advil etc will actually exacerbate the virus. Use common sense and don't let fever go over 103 or 104 if you got the guts. If it gets higher than that take your tylenol, not ibuprophen or advil to keep it regulated. It helps to keep house warm and cover up with blankets so body does not have to work so hard to generate the heat. It usually takes about 3 days of this to break the fever. 2. The body is going to dehydrate with the elevated temperature so you must rehydrate yourself regulaly, whether you like it or not. Gatorade with real sugar, or pedialyte with real sugar for kids, works well. Why the sugar? Sugar will give your body back the energy it is using up to create the fever. The electrolytes and fluid you are losing will also be replenished by the Gatorade. If you don't do this and end up in the hospital they will start an IV and give you D5W (sugar water) and Normal Saline to replenish electrolytes. Gatorade is much cheaper, pain free, and comes in an assortment of flavors 3. You must keep your lungs moist. Best done by taking long steamy showers on a regular basis, if your wheezing or congested use a real minty toothpaste and brush your teeth while taking the steamy shower and deep breath through your mouth. This will provide some bronchial dialation and help loosen the phlegm. Force your self to cough into a wet wash cloth pressed firmly over your mouth and nose, which will cause greater pressure in your lungs forcing them to expand more and break loose more of the congestion. 4. Eat healthy and regularly. Gotta keep your strength up. 5. Once the fever breaks, start moving around to get the body back in shape and blood circulating. 6. Deep breath on a regular basis, even when it hurts. If you don't it becomes easy to develope pneumonia. Pursed lip breathing really helps. That's breathing in deep and slow then exhaling through tight lips as if your blowing out a candle, blow until you have completely emptied your lungs and you will be able to breath in an even deeper breath. This helps keep lungs expanded as well as increase your oxygen level. 7. Remember that every medication you take is merely relieving the symptoms, not making you well. 8. If your still dying go to ER. I've been doing these things for myself and my family for over 40 years and kept them out of the hospital, all are healthy and still living today. Thank you all for sharing. We gotta help one another.

  6. Denny and David, OK, gentlemen we settle this with pistol’as 20 paces turn and fire the victor...Hmmm no victor here if we get are feelings hurt we are all friends doing something we love in the great out doors with a lot of like minded individuals (and I mean individuals, with many varied talents) all of whom I have the greatest respect for. It’s been a tough year, we are almost there...David I was talking to an old prospector at the basin and according to him the new 40 is really good ground...still, please be patient and join the party. Denny, you are really really smart, I have tremendous respect for you words and look forward to a long and rewarding friendship, something I hope for everyone here as well this is a quality club with quality members, Can’t we all just get...prospecting. 7. Been busy researching old claims to to find a good one one that no longer is valid for the club. Came across this, check our the name of the discoverer near the bottom of the page. Anyone familiar with Kalifornia and Nevada gold history will recognize one of history's most famous prospectors. Have found about a half dozen invalid placer claims in good areas to check out. Dennis and I are waiting for the snow to melt in the higher elevation claims before we start the expedition.Shorty Harris Claim MRDS03212021.pdf

  8. That is a very good question Ron. When a member looks at the web site there doesn't appear to be any reason for anyone to join or renew. Over the years, I have brought in several new members and a lot of them ask me what is happening with the club. I keep saying, we are reorganizing and things will be better soon, but realistically I don't have a clue. Several years ago the membership enrollment date was changed from January 1 thru December 31st to June 1 thru May 31st for numerous reasons. We are just a short time from renewal time again. Anyone that joins now or renews has to understand that dues are due again in June. Before we picked up a few new members and a few members paid past due memberships I believe we had 18 paid members. As an incentive to keep the old paid members, the ones that paid past dues and attract new members, I would like to propose this: All paid memberships Old, Renewed and New would be valid until May 31st 2021 This would give the club time to get it's act together Norm

  11. Hi All I don't know if this will work ?? Here is a link to my old web page all found with my old goldmasters. There are 3 categories to click on Gold , Meteorites , and artifacts. I built this in the late 1990s. I've found lots more since. Some of the thumb nails don't show up but if you click on them the picture is still there and others it's just the opposite. I guess it's how the archives work or something. Here's the link . http://web.archive.org/web/20030817113315/http://www.gci-net.com/users/g/goldmaster/ Happy Huntin John B. #2 I think

  14. Sorry for the delay worlddavi on replying. I am new to the invisionzone software, but this is what Ive found so far. The website software sets up as either public or private. We are a public forum, so the existence of the club / group is visible to public... If set up as "private", no one outside of members would know we even exist.. Counter productive IMO.. FYI: There are two parts of our site. PUBLIC and MEMBERS ONLY. The public parts of the current forum are the New Member Introduction, General Discussion, Nugget Hunting, and Meteorite Hunting forums.. The parts of the website that remain private and closed to outside eyes are in the Member's Only section. FYI: Posts made in Members Only topics (the private sections in our forum) Do Not get searched or indexed by google spiders and other web browser search engines. The Rub: The issue as I see it ( and many other invisionzone software users - consider how being member of a mental health patients group might feel as example), is that the member profile info IS always viewable whenever someone makes a comment regardless of section, public or private. Unfortunately, it appears there is no way to turn off the profile display when posting in one of our public forums. Yes, google picks up the info and makes it available for all time. The registration process asks for First Name and Last Name, and then asks for location, Birthdate, contact method, Gender, etc.... First Name and Last Name fields being Required, the rest is optional... I personally chose not to display much of this info in my profile as example: https://wspa.invisionzone.com/profile/1245-aarcher/ Note here that Birthday - I left blank... Gender - I left blank First Name - I used first Initial only Location - I used NM (not exact location of town) I am not that concerned over a basic profile signature being used when I post or comment here, but making these few changes does make identifying who I am considerably more difficult. Public display confirms only that there is a member, a archer who lives somewhere in NM. No Birthdate, no gender, etc... We are looking for a software plugin that will address this permanently and more efficiently, but in the interim, try these suggestion if you are also concerned: The Forum is currently setup so that a member's profile info is displayed with any activity. However, Members do have some control of what is seen with options to choose what is shown or not shown (by editing their public profile. TEMP FIXs TO IMPROVE COMFORT LEVEL while looking for permanent solution #1. Edit / Delete personal info from profile. Log in. Click avatar by your user name (top right of welcome screen) / Click Settings / Click Account Settings: Edit Name, Location, and make any other changes you feel necessary #2. POST IN A MEMBERS ONLY FORUM when discussing club business. Posts in the Members Only private section will only be seen by other registered Members. And since this topic was started in public forum, this is all on the record for God and google to collect and covet. hehheh.. Bottom Line View from the Top: There are possibly plugins that will allow us to hide member info from guests (and from google spiders) automatically, but posts in public forum will still be visible, and these public posts will be recorded by all the different web browser "spiders" as they look for new content. If we can find a suitable software plugin, it would allow improved basic privacy shielding members profile, yet still allow us the ability to keep the public presence, and if there is an add on solution found, the Board can decide how to proceed from there. Too long winded again. Nothing comes ez for me when 'splaining things..... Questions welcome. Please use private message for specific help in any of this... aarcher

  15. Hi All Yes Dick I bought the property from Jerimiah Wilson on Ebay. The only corner mark on the property will be the 1/4 corner mark on the N/W corner of the property . Or should I say the 1/2 mile marker on the northern section line. There is a USGS marker there just up out of the wash, there used to be some claim monuments there as well. I received the recorded deed back Friday. I will chat with my Insurance man Monday hopefully . I will post what I can find out about insurance and we will go from there. I think the monuments should read private property on painted cemented in 4x4. When setting the monuments recess them in a couple feet and I think we will be OK. I think a survey is wise but not necessary, Unless we are doing digging and fencing or putting up gates. Because it won't stop the locals or the rest out there. What would the club charge me to put up monuments on my 160 acre property. I've put up no trespassing signs only to find them full of bullets holes and laying down in the gullies. I would be more than happy to pay a reasonable price. All of my corners have USGS monuments except one. I'm also interested in purchasing more properties up there. If anyone notices for sale signs let me know the phone numbers and I'll give them a call. Even if the club doesn't want them I'll buy them and you all can have access. Happy Huntin John B. #2 I think

  22. That is our great dream to have pat ground I am in conference with a land claims management company to help us with club claim filing, research of land availability, restrictions plans of operation and filing of said claims and maintaining this is not a club member and they will be paid so no conflict of interest. Once this is negotiated we will ask members to post areas of interest they may have . then we can get some more claims filed as of to day I have several already proved areas to donate to the club {40 years of research}and we have several areas in AZ I do not posting things till confirmed but this is 99 percent Then we can rebuild . We have a trailer to move to AZ which I plan to do soon As far as club outings I would like members to put some together and manage a few to see how that goes Hope that helps with your decision Any one can PM Me at any time with ideas efforts and suggestions

  24. Hi All Bob our policy has always been claim owners or signors on claims get free membership. Now there are no more association claims unless they are preexisting to the current 20 acre rule change. It's never gone to well when the club has foot the bill on claims ? There seems to be a difficulty in getting someone to look over or handle paperwork or other problems that might arise if they have no skin in the game. But I think the club is open to all suggestions. Happy Huntin John B. #2 I Think

  35. I have a friend that has detected in Wilderness areas. On one occasion he was challenged by a Ranger. He defended his prospecting activity by the paragraph below from the Wilderness Act. I think this is how oil exploration is allowed in the Alaska Wilderness area. The real problems come when permissions for extraction of minerals is sought. PUBLIC LAW 88-577-SEPT. 3, 1964 "Wilderness Act" SPECIAL PROVISIONS (2)Nothing in this Act shall prevent within national forest wilderness areas any activity, including prospecting, for the purpose of gathering information about mineral or other resources, if such activity is carried on in a manner compatible with the preservation of the wilderness environment. https://wilderness.net/NWPS/documents/publiclaws/88-577.pdf Have a good day, Chet

  36. Hi Bill, Marble canyon gold is 70 to 115ft down in the bottom there are 3000ft of drifts on the bedrock It came from a ancient river bed still sections left up by Crooked creek 10,000 ft up but it is now in a wilderness area. Used to be placer claims on the hills surrounding marble canyon especially in the area where the road drops into the canyon, they are not in the D.V. park area. Check out the closed claims there.. North east of Chalfant are the Springs claims now closed. Some nice nuggets have been found there years ago, but steep rugged terrain. Don't give up on Mazourka there is gold there. One of the largest called the 3 finger nugget was a sun baker that came off the top off a mountain. Dennis and I know some areas up there that we have found gold in we just have not been able to get up there yet. You also have the Lida area Gold point and the Tule placers all have produced nuggets and it is high country been there when it was 105 in lone Pine and only 80 up there. You live in a great area to find gold not far from you. Good luck!

  37. Looking at maps I found the location where my 2 dwt nugget was found. There are two Marble Canyons; the correct one is about 20 miles SE of Big Pine. If you look on Google Earth at N 37.091604, -117.964783 you will find a cabin and old mining junk. This is where I found the nugget before it was 1 mile inside the Park Boundary. Looking at Land Matters there is only one active 20 acre claim that is just west of the Park Boundary that is in the same drainage. There are a lot of inactive claims in this area that are west of the Park Boundary. Maybe there is an area here that is worth claiming. Have a good day, Chet

  38. Bill It was east of the road. It was an underground ancient river that the miners had tunneled through with vertical shafts where they had lifted the sand and gravel to the surface for processing. There were tailing piles at each vertical shaft. I only had time to rake and detect one of the piles so there was great possibilities for the other ones. Chet

I found a few gold flakes, but I had no idea how much trash, nails, cartridge cases, wire and pop top lids were out there. I cleaned up a bunch of stuff. I love the nugget hunting but living in Kansas limits me to January or February for a couple weeks a year.
